Great news!!!  We finished as runners up last night in the award for Innovation in the Low Carbon Economy.

Unfortunately we lost out to Kirklees Borough Council.

Feedback from the organizers was that we had performed extremely well to be shortlisted and to be mixing it with mostly very large organisations, as judging was particularly tough.

ICE Renewables, market leaders in the Medium Wind Industry announce partnership with Vergnet SA, leading manufacturer of mid size wind turbines

ICE Renewables, one of the UK’s most versatile providers of renewable energy solutions within the Feed In Tariff market place, agree Exclusive British Distributorship with Vergnet SA and will market and deliver the Vergnet GEV-MP 275kW Wind Turbine within the UK.

The GEV-MP wind turbine is from both a performance and cost basis, the most effective turbine in the market. It is available on a 55m guyed tower or 32m monopole tower; and has the flexibility of being able to down-rate to a 250 kW output allowing for two units to be installed, whilst still benefitting from the financially very attractive 18.8p per kWh Generation Tariff band.

Founded in 1988 by its current CEO, Marc Vergnet, a leading figure in the sustainable development Vergnet, France’s only manufacturer of wind turbines. Today, Vergnet has earned its place as the leader in mid-range wind turbines.

The Vergnet technology was designed for the FARWIND® market. It is designed to overcome the following challenges:

  • Climate (average to strong winds, cyclones, extreme temperatures…);
  • Geography (isolated, semi-arid or mountainous zones …);
  • Logistical issues (crane availability and cost, difficult access…).

To overcome these obstacles, VERGNET has developed light, small-dimensioned wind generators, easy to transport and to install (no crane and no lorry required), adaptable to all environments.

Thanks to the specific design of its wind generators and broad scope of skills from the designing, manufacturing and installation and to maintenance wind turbines Vergnet SA provide outstanding reliability.

Vergnet has installed nearly 650 FARWIND® wind turbines to date.

ICE Renewables provides low and zero carbon solutions to the commercial, agricultural and public sectors, through consultancy, renewable energy products and turn-key installation packages. Working with top 250 UK companies, SMEs, land agents, farmers and public sector organisations on a daily basis, our unique proposition not only includes feasibility advice and scheme designs, but also a global supply chain of renewable equipment and installation services via our partners.

Commenting on the partnership, Julian Martin, MD of ICE Renewables said “We are delighted to announce our exclusive partnership with Vergnet SA to the UK market at such a pivotal point in the country’s fight against global warming with the introduction of the Feed In Tariff. Vergnet are a global leader in the medium wind sector and ICE Renewables are extremely proud to represent them in our rapidly developing distributed generation market”.

Bruno Hignette UK Sales Manager of Vergnet agreed, adding “With ICE Renewables, Vergnet has found a sound partner and expects to boost its sales in this new and fast growing market with its GEV MP 275 kW range and to develop our PROXWIND concept which aims to provide wind energy solutions for local use that perfectly fit farmers, land owners and community wind projects requirements. This exclusive agreement gives a framework and a boost for new projects to be added to the 80 projects that are already under development in the UK”.

Government Announces Feed In Tariffs (FITs)

A new system of Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) will provide support aimed at small low-carbon generators. This will open up low-carbon electricity generation beyond the traditional energy companies, making it more cost effective for communities and householders to take part.

The key FIT design aspects are:

  • A fixed payment from the electricity supplier for every kilowatt hour (kWh) generated (the “generation tariff”);
  • A guaranteed minimum payment additional to the generation tariff for every kWh exported to the wider electricity market (the “export tariff”);
  • Generators receiving FITs will also benefit from on-site use:  where they use the electricity they generate on-site they will be able to offset this against electricity they would otherwise have had to buy.
