Rainwater recovery – what is it?

Recycling rainwater is a technology based upon years of experience in countries such as Germany, New Zealand and across Australia.  Rainwater is a valuable resource which plays an essential part in sustainable development and rainwater harvesting is increasingly being included as standard in the design of new buildings in the UK.

The concept of rainwater recovery is a simple one; store rainwater recovered from the roof area of your building on site, filter it and re-use it in place of mains water, thereby reducing your mains water consumption, reducing your water bill and making less of an environmental impact.

Rainwater harvesting can be used for a variety of applications including:

  • WC and urinal flushing
  • Irrigation and landscape watering
  • Vehicle washing
  • Swimming pool
  • Domestic and commercial laundry
  • Cooling and sprinkler systems
Why pay for water when it arrives on your roof for free!

Rainwater harvesting can be used in all sorts of buildings including:

  • Commercial buildings such as offices, museums, libraries, visitor centres, shopping and retail centres
  • Educational buildings such as schools, universities, colleges and nurseries
  • Industrial buildings such as transport depots, crate washes, warehouses, manufacturing
  • PFI projects such as hospitals, care homes and schools
  • Government buildings such as council offices, prisons, leisure centres, police and fire stations
  • Agricultural and horticultural centres
  • Domestic developments from apartment blocks, individual properties to large scale developments for housing associations and property developers
