A 14.1 kW Solar PV installation was designed and installed for a new 34 flat development in Burton-Upon-Trent.

Outcome

William Davis Homes designed a high profile, social homes development consisting of 34 homes housed in the centre of Burton-Upon-Trent. ICE Renewables were approached to design and install a solar PV system. Given the location of the housing, a roof integrated system was designed to ensure the development would be sensitive to it’s surrounding environment. The project was installed by ICE Renewables in July 2010. Six months after installation ICE Renewables performed a Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) on the scheme. This demonstrated that the system is performing better than predicated. Income from the PV contributes to the annual maintenance costs made by the residents for the communal areas in the building, it is therefore an added attraction for perspective tenants of the properties. The client is very happy with the service they have received and are hoping to work with ICE Renewables again in the future.

Graham Morris, Development Project Surveyor, Trent & Dove on behalf of Williams Davis Homes Limited:

“Being a Housing Association one of our key concerns, when looking for a supplier, is price and we were pleased that ICE Renewables were not only extremely competitive but also offered a professional and efficient service, from the early consultations and design through to the installation and commissioning.

On top of all that the kilowatt hours produced, and subsequent income generated, has exceeded our expectations as well as reducing the communal electric bill”
