A small wind planning package was delivered for Lochmailing, an arable farm in Dumfries.
| Date: | December 2010 |
| Technology: | Small Wind |
| Capacity: | upto 15kW |
| Scope of works: | Small wind planning package |
Objective:
Lochmailing Farm is an arable farm lying within Eskdalemuir. The farm was looking to install a small wind turbine to export energy produced back to the grid. A planning application was submitted and granted for the property.
Outcome:
A planning application was submitted for a small turbine with a maximum output of 15kW. Initial information was provided to the client in view of a 10kW turbine but as the site is within Eskdalemuir a maximum of 15kW would be considered acceptable by the Ministry of Defence in this location.
Initially the client was advised of the suitability of a 10kW turbine but the local planning authority, Dumfries and Galloway Council, said they would consider up to a 15kW turbine.
A planning application was then submitted for a 15kW. Five objections were received relating to the visual impact of the turbine.
Through negotiating with the planners and the client ICE Renewables were able to relocate (micro-site) the turbine accordingly. This resulted in the application being approved.
