An investigation into the possible installation of an Anaerobic Digestion plant at Hurst Farm, Staffordshire.
| Date: | October 2010 |
| Technology: | Anaerobic Digestion |
| Capacity: | 250kW |
| Scope of works: | Feasibility |

Objective:
To investigate whether an Anaerobic Digestion Plant on Hurst Farm using energy from waste to produce electricity and heat would be feasible and financially viable.
Outcome:
Originally a 100kW Anaerobic Digestion plant was proposed following detailed research and discussion with the client ICE Renewables showed that a 250kW plant was considered more profitable and appropriate to the needs of the farm. Throughout this process it allowed a good relationship and communication to be held between both parties.
The client is satisfied with the outcome of the study, and has entered into negotiations to secure finance for the £1.1 million development.
The planning phase is predicted to take three months to submission, within this time, consideration has been highlighted for noise, odours, ecology, planning and grid connection. The project was initially received well by the planning authority upon a site visit to Hurst Farm.
