Ruchlaw Mains’ Medium Wind Turbine

Electrical, civil design works and installation for a single 275kW Vergnet wind turbine at Ruchlaw Mains, Scotland

Stage Commissioned
Wind Turbine Vergnet GEV MP R Medium Wind
Total kW 275kW
Units 1
Scope of works:  Design, Build, Operations and Maintenance

Objective:

Provide a renewable energy solution to offset the farms electricity demand and integrate the proposed renewable energy system into the existing power distribution network.

Outcome:

A comprehensive survey and analysis of both the sites existing electrical system and overhead line network was conducted.  Technical discussion with Scottish Power suggested that there would be a potential voltage rise issue when connecting the proposed embedded generation system to the rural electrical network.

ICE Renewables provided a solution to this by integrating advanced Automatic Voltage Control technology into the renewable energy power system to mitigate voltage rise.  This solution necessitated a dedicated over head line feed from the nearest substation favoured by most Distributed Network Operators.  Three Medium Voltage electrical scheme designs were produced for the embedded system with a preferred scheme selected and agreed with the client.  The detailed design for the renewable energy system was completed and the proposed connnection detail agreed with Scottish Power.

The action implemeted by ICE Renewables provided a total renewable energy solution taking the project from  detailed design to the build and operations and maintenance of the wind turbine.

The wind turbine has now been installed and commissioned.
