Andrea Leadsom, Conservative MP for South Northamptonshire, has tabled a debate on onshore wind energy to be debated in Westminster Hall at 2.30 on Thursday 10th February. She has supported fellow Conservative MP Chris Heaton-Harris’s calls for buffer zones to be introduced between onshore wind turbines and residential dwellings.
This debate differs from standard Westminster Hall debates as it was selected by the Backbench Business Committee, a new Committee set up by the Coalition after the election to determine, on behalf of backbench members, the business before the House for approximately one day each week.
The Committee received representations for a debate from Members with a range of views on energy generation through onshore wind turbines. The Committee was told that this is an important constituency issue which is not fully covered by the provisions of the Localism Bill, currently before Parliament.
